Product options

Options are the choices a customer makes before buying — size, colour, gift wrapping, pizza toppings. You can also make a choice change the price.

Whatever the customer picks appears in the order details, in your shop’s notifications, and on the invoice.

The four types

Drop-Down ListMany choices in little spaceOne value
Radio ButtonsA few choices you want visible at once — colour, gift wrappingOne value

The first three all pick one value. Only checkboxes allow more than one.

Adding an option

Open the product

Under CMS › Products, click the name of the product.

Open the Options tab

Select the Options tab and click Add Product Option.

Name it and choose a type

Fill in Option name, then pick one of the four Option types.

Add the values

Enter the first value, then click +Add Value for each of the others.

Set price modifiers, if any

If a choice costs more or less than the base product, click Add price modifier.

Set a default, if you want one

Value added automatically picks one option by default on the product page.

Save

Click Add Option.

How price modifiers work

This is the part people get wrong.

A price modifier is not the price of the option. It is the amount added to, or taken off, the product’s base price.

A real example. A T-shirt costs €50. You want Medium at €52 and Large at €55. The modifiers are +2 and +5, not 52 and 55.

Put the full price in and you will be selling €102 T-shirts.

Editing and reordering

Both live in the same place: CMS › Products, click the product, open the Options tab, then click the three dots next to an option.

  • Edit — change the option
  • Change Order — opens the reorder screen. Drag the six-dot handle to move options up or down. This is the order customers see them in on the product page.
